Objectives of the Department of History

Objective: To implement a program for the formation of a student profile who can discuss and research the events and phenomena that occurred in the historical process with contemporary methods and follow and learn the changes in data and differences in approaches to issues that occur as a result of academic studies, who closely follow the developments in their fields with this equipment and can share the knowledge and approaches they have acquired with their environment.

Goal: To help students gain the skills to establish a cause and effect relationship between historical events, to look at daily problems arising from a historical basis from a historical perspective and to make historical inferences, to constantly renew themselves, to access information, to take part as teachers in educational institutions and researchers in public and private institutions.

To have high-level knowledge and skills related to world knowledge and auxiliary sciences in history, supported by books containing up-to-date information, application tools and materials and other scientific resources. Uses this knowledge and skills in their profession and research.

Follows the researches and publications in the field.

Takes initiative in informing the public and forming public opinion on historical themes.

Is equipped to inform the public about the historical past of their region.

After undergraduate education, they become equipped to contribute to local and national history research by collecting and evaluating historical resources in the place where they live.

Has computer knowledge as required by the field of history. Uses contemporary information and communication technologies.

Observes social, humanitarian, scientific and national values in the sharing of information and approaches to be obtained as a result of their studies.

Understands national and universal values and is open to new knowledge and ideas based on Atatürk's principles.

Is equipped to recognize, promote and disseminate human history, basic human values and democracy.

Is able to make an opinion about the impact of the past institutions and mentalities of society and humanity on the present.

Examines and evaluates the concepts, ideas and data related to the discipline of history with the research methods of social sciences; identifies, analyzes and discusses unexplored issues, and develops suggestions based on scientific findings and evidence.

Gains the ability to conduct independent research and analysis on historical phenomena and to write them down or to give lectures and conferences on these subjects.

Can determine the limitations such as how to research the subjects of interest, the boundaries and scope of the research area, time and space.

Can take part in activities that will enlighten the society related to their field.

Gains competence in subjects such as giving lectures and conferences on historical research.

Gains the ability to publish articles and journals, organize social projects, etc. on issues related to history.

Gains the ability to make comparisons between history knowledge and other fields, to consult and contribute to society.
