Çarşamba Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Department of History was established in 2018 and started education in 2019 with a quota of 40 students. Our department has six programmes: Ancient History, Medieval History, General Turkish History, Modern History, Contemporary History and History of the Republic of Turkey.
Students who successfully complete the undergraduate program of the Department of History graduate from Ondokuz Mayıs University, Çarşamba Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of History with a bachelor's degree and the title of "Historian". Graduates of the Department of History can be employed as specialists and assistant specialists in various ministries and archives such as the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and institutions within the Atatürk Culture, Language and History High Institute. Graduates have the opportunity to pursue an academic career by continuing their master's and doctoral studies. Graduates of the Department of History can also work as lecturers in history and related departments of universities. Furthermore, those who complete the optional teaching certificate prerequisite can work as history teachers in schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education and private education institutions.
