The talk titled “The Prophet Muhammad’s Conduct Toward His Wives and His Exemplary Behavior at Home”, delivered by our Head of Department, Prof. Dr. İhsan Arslan, was held at the Çarşamba Open Penal Institution under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Türkiye.

The program focused on the place and importance of the family institution in Islam, emphasizing that the family is the smallest unit of society and that families built upon strong foundations play a vital role in the continuity of society and, consequently, the state. It was stated that values such as respect, love, self-sacrifice, tolerance, and compassion constitute the fundamental dynamics necessary for a family to sustain itself in a healthy manner. In this context, it was highlighted that the Prophet Muhammad personally embodied these principles in his family life and set an example for Muslims. The talk also addressed how the Prophet’s roles as a good son, a good husband, a good father, and a good grandfather provide an essential model for understanding the ideal family structure in Islamic society. His emphasis on unity, solidarity, and mutual support within the family was noted as being instructive for contemporary societies as well. Additionally, references were made to the emphasis placed on the importance of the family in the Qur’an and hadith literature, underlining the significance of preserving and strengthening the family institution for the well-being of society. The program concluded with a question-and-answer session.
