"Mustafa Kemal Pasha and May 19 at the Dawn of a New State" Event Held in the Faculty Library
A meaningful event titled "Mustafa Kemal Pasha and May 19 at the Dawn of a New State" was organized by the Socio Vision Community at Ondokuz Mayıs University Çarşamba Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The program, held in a warm and engaging atmosphere in the faculty library, featured Prof. Dr. Önder Duman, a faculty member of the History Department, as the guest speaker.
In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Duman discussed in detail the historical context that prepared the ground for Mustafa Kemal Pasha’s arrival in Samsun on May 19, 1919, and the process that unfolded thereafter. He provided comprehensive information on the conditions under which the National Struggle began, the challenges faced, the efforts of key figures of the period, and the political and social situation of the Ottoman Empire. Additionally, Mustafa Kemal Pasha’s transition to Anatolia was examined in light of historical sources.
Before the event, which drew significant interest, the Socio Vision Community offered various refreshments to the participants. Students and academics also had the opportunity to engage in sincere conversations with Prof. Dr. Önder Duman.
At the end of the program, a commemorative gift was presented to Prof. Dr. Önder Duman by Emre Yılmaz, the President of the Socio Vision Community and a third-year history student. The event concluded with a group photo session.
